Barebones OS is a lightweight Windows rebuild, developed as a sub-project of NuxOS for power users who want speed, simplicity, and full control over what runs on their system.
Small
Barebones OS is built by stripping Windows 10/11 down to its core components. A minimal installation requires around 5–6 GB of storage, and the system can idle under 1 GB of RAM. You still get a fully working Windows environment, just without the background bloat.
Simple
Barebones OS tries to stay out of your way. It keeps the standard Windows core and removes the rest — telemetry services, preinstalled apps, background schedulers — leaving a clean, quiet system you can build on top of.
